Faint praise

Former Kansas senator and presidential candidate Bob Dole visited the University of Missouri-Kansas City last month.

According to a University News article, during a small question-and-answer session, someone asked Dole his opinion of George W. Bush:

"How do I rate President Bush . . . I'm trying to find a way out of this," he said. "I think he's out there working hard to get himself out of the hole he's in."

Heh. He might as well have said, "Bushie, you're doing a heck of a job."

Of course, I would say much worse.

Bush is trying to get out of the hole HE is in - trying to solve his own political problems. What he is not doing, is trying to solve the country's problems. Yeah, Bush is working hard, as he said himself - "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
