Near Full Slate of Dems Filed in Wichita - List Here
The Sedgwick County Democratic Party was proud to declare to voters this week that every Kansas House district reflects a Democrat who has filed for that office. Only one out 22 legislative districts did not draw a Democrat contender. Here is the list with contact info (candidates with an asterisk after name are unopposed):

81st: Judy Armstrong - judy.armstrong@sktc.net
82nd: Jeff Boone - jeff.boone@boonein2006.com
83rd: David Cook - dave.cook@century21.com
84th: Rep. Oletha Faust-Goudeau - oletha84th@aol.com *
85th: Guy MacDonald - guymacdonald@cox.net
86th: Rep. Judy Loganbill - judithloganbill@msn.com
87th: Raj Goyle - raj@rajforkansas.com
88th: Rep. Jim Ward - ward97@sbcglobal.net
89th: Rep. Melody McCray-Miller - melody@southwind.net *
90th: William Collier - hwcollier@hotmail.com
91st: Walt Chappell - ChappellHQ@chappell4KSRep.com
92nd: Rep. Nile Dillmore - repdillmore@att.net
93rd: Marcep Gregory - run4g2@cox.net
95th: Rep. Tom Sawyer - shocker3@cox.net
96th: Terry McLachlan - terrymclachlan96thdistrict@cox.net
97th: Ruth Sale - ruthsale97th@yahoo.com
98th: Rep. Geraldine Flaharty - flaharty98@aol.com *
99th: Charles Mahoney - charlie@charliemahoney.com
100th: Grady Kallenbach - grady13000@hotmail.com
103rd: Rep. Delia Garcia - ksrepgarcia@yahoo.com
105th: Jane Byrnes - janebb@sbcglobal.net

Other good news is that, while the Sedg. Cty. Dems have challenged every incumbent Republican legislator but one, the Republicans failed to put up a challenger to 50% of the Dem. incumbents (4 out of 8). Sedgwick County Democratic Party Chair Kelly Johnston said, "We wanted to make sure that voters had an opportunity to choose to send new voices to Topeka this year. I am proud of our candidates. This slate reflects that the winds of political change are also blowing in Wichita. We are building momentum. Watch for our candidates to succeed in November."

1. Wonderful!
Did any of these candidates run last time?

Here in Johnson County 20 of 22 districts have Democrats running. Some ran last time, most didn't. But a number of 2004 candidates are going to be helping out, which hopefully will make a great difference.

2. Brand New Candidates
Except for the incumbents, we have no repeat contenders on this list. Two of the candidates - Guy MacDonald and Marcey Gregory - ran for School Board and City Council in the Spring of 2005. I attended an Action meeting for candidate McLachlan last night at which the three previous Democrat candidates in that district attended. One of those previous candidates actually held that House seat for 20 years. Yes, as you are seeing in JC, the candidates in Sedg. Cty. are receiving good support from previous contenders, and activists in general.
