Peace March Sunday September 24 on The Plaza in KC
Please join us at the “It’s Time for Peace” March, Vigil and Rally which will take place on Sunday, September 24 at the J.C. Nichols Fountain, 47th & Main, KCMO. The Declaration of Peace March will begin at 3:00pm (gathering at the Fountain at 2:45pm) and will include a march around the Plaza Art Fair with the components of the Missouri and Kansas Eyes Wide Open exhibit.

March participants will carry: 73 pairs of combat boots, each tagged with the name of a Kansas or Missouri service person killed in Iraq; 50 pairs of shoes representing the fifty times as many Iraqi civilian who have perished in the war and occupation; signs explaining the human and economic cost of the war and flag draped coffins. Our intent is to remind attendees of the Plaza Art Fair of the cost of the Iraq war and invite them to join our call for Peace.

We need your help to make the march, vigil and rally a success. One hundred and fifty people are needed to carry the boots, shoes, signs and other materials for the march. Please sign up and volunteer to help.

ÿ Carry boots, shoes, signs or other items in the Declaration of Peace March
ÿ Come to the AFSC office, 4405 Gillham Rd., KCMO for an hour or two one day the week of September 18th to help prepare for the It’s Time for Peace events
ÿ Be a peace marshal for the Declaration of Peace March
ÿ Copy, post and distribute the attached flyer
ÿ Bring pairs of shoes to the AFSC office to contribute to the KS & MO Eyes Wide Open exhibit
ÿ Help pack boots, shoes, signs, etc. Sunday, Sept. 24 at noon.

The Bring the Troops Home bus from Camp Casey will also be here next Sunday. Jim, the driver, is on his way to Camp Democracy in DC and is gathering signatures on a petition to impeach bush. He will deliver the petitions to Congress when he arrives in DC.

So please come down to The Plaza next Sunday, help spread the word about the unjust war in Iraq and sign a petition to impeach the president. What a great way to spend a Sunday!!
