1. Not From There, But Working on a Statehouse Campaign
I am from Wichita, but I have been working on a Statehouse campaign in El Dorado, and I know that there are indeed liberals in that city. I know that the Butler Cty. Democratic Party recently elected a new chairman in August who is from El D. Did you perhaps have other questions that I might have some knowledge to pass on?

2. I'm originally from El Dorado.
Left years ago. I'm curious as to the mindset now. Are people beginning to see that the 'Emperor' indeed has no clothing?

3. Proof Is In the Puddin'
Hard to say yet. Depends on how you measure improvement. At the election of the new Democratic Party chairman, Gary Eachern, in August, there were less than 20 precinct committemen and women eligible to vote. Building the Democratic Party there has a long way to go, but it is easy to be critical. Although the Democratic Party in Wichita now is much more active and organized and involved this election cycle, we still have a neo-con as a Congressman who is going to be re-elected.

But I can definitely say that there is a serious chance that two Democrats could be elected to the statehouse from El Dorado - Dr. Sarah Johnston being the candidate there - and from Augusta, with Debbie Logsdon - a union organizer - being the candidate there. Both of those campaigns are working hard, have a dedicated group of activists involved in those cities, and are carrying out well-conceived campaign plans. From my perspective, we'll have to see how those elections come out, as well as whether the Governor and Paul Morrison win in Butler Cty.

4. I have occasional contact with an old high school friend and I'm afraid
that he is the typical, Kool-Aid drinking, Limbaugh Dittohead.
It saddens me. I hope that there will be an element within the Republican party that will finally tire of what has happened in Washington and overthrow the current regime. I'm still angry with Clinton for giving 'THEM' (ie - Rove, et al) everything they salivated for. Good luck with the campaigns there. I can hardly wait until elections - but I'm holding my breath.
Do you have the dreaded Diebold machines there? Can you still request a paper ballot?

5. Not Sure About Butler Cty
In Sedgwick County we have the ES&S machines for which there is a paper back-up, but I'm not sure about Butler Cty.
