KC Meetup this weekend

It has been suggested that we change our meetup from Sunday to Saturday. There is a showing of Iraq For Sale in Lawrence on Sunday and several other DUers have conflicts on Sunday.

So give me feedback. Would you be more likely to come on Saturday or on Sunday?

I would be happy to schedule meetups for both nights if there is a split vote.

2. I saw it last night

I am still seething with anger. I want to see it again. I was so stunned by many of the things I learned that I missed a lot while I processed the information. I had to see F9/11 several times before I put all that together.

A soldier from Camp Casey was in it. Neat kid, very brave to speak out.

Okay we can meet on Saturday at the Flea Market at 7:00. If people want to gather there on Sunday, they can as well.

3. I saw it last week

Or at least most of it. My brother, the ex-Republican, brought it with him when came to visit. He started showing it around 12:30 a.m. and I saw most of it before I fell asleep. Great movie.

5. We know members of the church

They let us use the church for various reasons in the past. They hosted a number of our Franklin-Douglas Counties Concerned Citizens meetings to try to keep highway 59 on its current alignment rather than go one mile east and force the eastern section of the SLT to be built. They also hosted the Democracy Caravan people when they came through in 2004. The church let them park their trailer there between local appearances where they register voters and Rex's parties. The church has also hosted showings of a lot of other movies and speakers. It's a relatively good location and it is big enough to allow for discussions after the event.

You may not know it but in my spare time I persecute Christians. I once got into a shouting match over the phone with a local minister because I got tired of his followers bothering me at home. I've also called the police on them. Believe me, I am no fan of churches or their congregations. The nice thing about meeting at the Unitarian Church is that no one has ever preached or advocated joining their church. The let the members (who are also regular attendees of Rex's parties) use the church for social functions.

You should give it a try. I think you might recognize a few people there. Me and mine are heading to the Chicago Bulls & Seattle Supersonics exhibition game. A client of ours has some pretty good tickets and invited us to join him at the game. It starts either at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse. I can't remember which he said. So expect game traffic this Saturday. ;) Then he wants to take us to go eat after the game. I don't think we'll be done in time to make the movie.

Oh yeah, don't forget that Late Night is this Friday. There'll be lots of traffic on 23rd before and after the event.

I'll try to get a full schedule so you and Gilmore will know when to avoid the game traffic.

They have movies every Tuesday night. And they are free.
