With pressure from the Supreme Court to fix our school finance plan, and a plea from the Governor to address health care issues, what are the Republicans fast-tracking?
TOPEKA - Senate president-elect Steve Morris said he plans to seek Senate approval of a constitutional ban on gay marriage by the end of this week.
If approved by a two-thirds vote, that would give the House about three weeks to consider the proposal and make a Feb. 11 deadline needed to get the proposal before Kansas voters on an April 5 ballot, he said.
For this timeline to work, Morris said he plans to refer the proposal to the Senate floor once it is introduced. It would be a procedural move that would eliminate public hearings, with a vote possibly on Thursday.http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/10610582.htm(In a related :wtf: , why was this posted in the Sports section of the paper?)
