The following was posted on a local forum (
http://larryville.com/forum/index.cgi?read=9365). Thought I'd share them with my fellow DU'ers.
It'd be nice to see some other NE Kansas DU'ers at this afternoon's (round two) event.
Howdy from a red state. :hi:
**********
Below are pictures from today's rally at Strong Hall.
This is the announcement I received from the LCPJ about this afternoon's activities.
The Lawrence Coalition for Peace and Justice, in response to the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., and in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, will hold a "I Have a Dream Inauguration" at 5:30 pm Thursday, January 20, outside the Douglas County Courthouse, 11th and Massachusetts streets.
Following a swearing in ceremony, the "President" will give an "Inaugural Address" listing policies and actions of peace, international cooperation, justice, and protection of civil rights and of the environment that the people would like to see implemented during the next administration.
Following that address, everyone present will be invited to come forward to state what they would like to see happen during the next four years. All concerned citizens are invited to participate.
