Lawrence, KS (AP) -- A nationally prominent political commentator, conservative Ann Coulter, will speak March 29th at the University of Kansas.

Coulter has been invited to deliver the next in the Vickers Memorial Lecture Series at the Lied (leed) Center.

Coulter is a lawyer and best-selling author. Her most recent book is "Slander: Liberal Lies about the American Right." She writes a syndicated column for Universal Press Syndicate.

The K-U lectures series is named for J-A Vickers Senior, founder of Vickers Petroleum, and his son, Robert Vickers Senior.

3. We were thinking

of trying to invite Vaginal Davis (Condi's Drag Queen cousin) to KU at the same time. In the same vein we were thinking of dressing up like drag queens.

Otherwise, we're thinking of making fake Adam's Apples to wear OR wearing blonde wigs to mock her out.

My thought was to get a skull cap and glue straw to it.

In the meantime, since the lecture is part of the J.A. Vickers Sr. and Robert F. Vickers Sr. Memorial Lecture I think it would be wise to write them and let them know it isn't cool.

I say that we all dress like business people in suits, to show that respectable business people reject the putrid sludge she is trowelling out.
That announcement makes me wonder if this is not old news. Her most recent book is not Slander. She wrote the slanderous Treason after that and then How to talk to a Liberal.
I was thinking there should be a pamphlet How to listen to a Conservative, if you must.

I like it. We shouldn't just stop at "How to Listen to a Conservative" pamphlet, we should have accompanying ear plugs.

In addition how about a couple of other pamphlets called "Reason?" and "Flounder" which lists her most laughable quotes/lies from "Treason" and "Slander" (I think we can find them on the net and won't be forced to actually look at her book).

7. That is so disturbing

How can they do that? Maybe she is a lawyer and "best-selling author" but she's so grossly partisan that it just makes the school look incredibly biased. Unless they plan on also having Al Franken speak or something, this is just wrong on so many levels.

I get e-mails and literature for different programs at KU (I actually am close to sending in applications for certain programs next Fall) but I think I'll be returning those with nice remarks about how I couldn't support a school that is receiving public money but has showed itself to be supporting conservative agendas.

8. As a KU alum, I don't know if I'd count KU out entirely...

because it is still a good deal more liberal than the rest of Kansas, and, in general, a good school. But some complaints to the people responsible for this mess would definitely be in order. Sounds like it was arranged through donors to the School of Business (the Vickers family), who chose Coulter. The School of Business, not surprisingly, is a good deal more conservative than most other departments at KU. :eyes:

12. That's true. The conservative agenda is on the part of the Vickers family,

who have the money to bankroll conservative speakers like this to "expose students to conservative viewpoints." If KU as a whole were more conservative, they probably wouldn't feel the need to do that. Damn libruls. :D
