Man in penguin suit target of investigation
I originally posted the following in the KO/Countdown forum. Since it is a local story I thought I would post it here as well. It was in yesterday's KC Star.

Man in penguin suit target of investigation
A Gardner employee allegedly taunted elementary school basketball players.

By BENITA Y. WILLIAMS
The Kansas City Star

Authorities in Gardner are investigating reports that a city employee dressed in a penguin suit heckled elementary school basketball players and later quarreled with coaches and parents.

The incident took place at a game Saturday morning at Gardner Elementary School.

Chris Dowell, the coach of one of the teams, said the taunts disrupted the game, saddened players and caused enough chaos to postpone the post-season celebration. “All we want is the kids to get an apology from the city,” Dowell said.

A witness said the man was a referee for the city who recently was stopped from working the fifth- and sixth-grade games after complaints from parents and coaches that he let the games get too rough. The insults on Saturday were directed at the team who complained, a witness said. Witnesses said they recognized the man when he removed the head of his penguin suit.

And no, they don't know why he choose a penguin suit. :eyes:

1. That man doesn't deserve to be dressed as a penguin.
But I like animals, so I can't think of one disagreeable enough to be appropriate for him.

6. Oh, HUMAN weasels. That's different.
They seem to do well in sales, though.

5. I thought it may have something to do with the Pittsburg Penguins
that were rumored to be considering a move to KO. Maybe he's a hockey fan and got a penguin suit in anticipation that the Penguins would be playing nearby.

Or he just happened to have a penguin costume laying around the house.

9. A third option
He went out and got a penguin suit because of the popularity of that penguin movie this past year. You know, the kid movie! He was going psy-ops on the kids!
