Democrat Wins Mayoral Race in Wichita

[Big Unit]

In case my DU friends had not yet heard, Democrat Carl Brewer won the mayor race in Wichita yesterday by a landslide over neo-con Carlos Mayans - whom some of you may remember from his days in the Kansas Legislature. Brewer garnered 61% of the vote, and only lost six precincts in the entire City. Two of these precincts he only lost by 1 vote. Brewer won more precincts than even AG Morrison in his race against Kline. Brewer is also the very first African-American to win the Wichita mayor seat in a City-wide election.

In important School Board races, creationist Cindy Duckett and anti-tax zealot Karl Peterjohn (Kansas Taxpayer's Network) were also beaten, and retired president of the teacher's union, Barbara Fuller, won election by a landslide also.

Good things are still happening politically in Wichita. Is there any interesting news about local elections from up in NE Kansas? I see that "Big Lips" Jenkins is gonna take on "Big Ears" Ryun for the privilege of getting trounced by Congresswoman Boyda next year . . .
