What About Quigley?
I understand that a nurse named Quigley was selected by Republican precinct people to succeed Stephanie Sharp. Does anyone know Nurse Quigley? Will she be a moderate? Will she stand up for science, given her profession?

1. I don't know anything about her yet
But I will see what I can find out. But since my rep resigned and was replaced by a fundie preacher, I am not too hopeful about this nurse.

2. Her name is Jill Quigley. The conservatives don't like her husband
At this point, not much is known about Jill Quigley, aside from the fact that she was a 2002 and 2004 GOP Club Precinct Candidate. We do, however, have a detailed profile of Quigley's husband - a fellow local political activist.

James Quigley, a Johnson County Pathologist, was a registered Republican for Moore in 2002. In addition to that, Quigley donated $1,800 to Howard Dean's ill-fated Presidential Campaign.

The 'Republicans for Moore' label, which might be possibly explained away in today's divided climate, was a much different engine back in 2002. At that point, moderate Republicans had a golden candidate in Adam Taff. Additionally, Moore had only been in office for two terms, so it wasn't as though he'd built up a huge vestage of Republican support. There was absolutely no reason for any actual Republican to lean Moore's way in that race.

While we will reserve judgement on Jill Quigley, her husband's political involvement is not a good sign. Jill has already gained the favor of Stephanie Sharp, but still has to make the rounds through the rest of the moderate powerbrokers. In that process, it's a safe bet that Dr. Quigley's Left leanings will not be of assistance.

fwiw, the husband also gave $500 to Kansas Democratic State Cmte in 2005 http://opensecrets.org/indivs/search.asp?key=nt3u8&txtName=quigley&txtState=KS&txtAll=Y&Order=N
