I got canvassed tonight...

...by the Obama campaign here in Lawrence. They wanted to know if I was supporting him in the caucus in March (is that when it is? It was in March in 2004). I told the fellow I hadn't made up my mind yet.
In fact I don't know that I'm going to caucus this time. The memory of the last one is not one of my happier memories of the 2004 campaign. I may just sit this one out unless Al gets in.

4. I came home this evening

to a message on my answering machine from the Obama campaign eager to tell me all about him. The call back number was a Lawrence area code.

5. And tonight I got a call

that I was home to take from the Obama campaign. Actually, they asked for my soon-to-be-ex, and I told them he no longer lives here, and then proceeded to have a lengthy conversation with the unfortunate Obama person who dialed the phone.

I expressed my strong feelings that no one who is a candidate is appropriately addressing the issue of ending the war in Iraq. I said that it is an utter disgrace that this is the only first world country without a universal health care system. I said that I don't know how I can support any candidate who doesn't call for the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq and who doesn't push for a universal health care system.

I think I quite startled the Obama person, who probably almost never gets someone who engages at length on these issues.

I have not been canvassed by any other campaign.
