This is comforting - NOT
Kansas Meadowlark (a right wing blog) is using Google Street Views to find registered voters at empty lots in Wyandotte County.

Only problem with this is that when you Google an address, you see the lot ACROSS THE STREET from the actual address. (I think that's why they call it "street view") I noticed this when I Googled my own address and the image that came up was the park across the street from my house. So I Googled a few other houses of friends and family and got the house across the street every single time. Since my house needs painting, I wasn't too bothered by this. :)

But this little strategy (a creative way to cage voters, you must admit) could cause problems on election day.

Here, try your house and see what you get: http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/help/maps/tour/#street_view

1. I couldn't quite figure out what you meant,
so I googled my address, and it came up with a street scene, which seems to have been taken from the middle of my street, while the photographer was standing directly in front of the house immediately north of me. In fact, my own address is slightly tricky to spot, but I can recognize the cars in the driveway.

On the addresses you've googled, can you rotate the picture you get? I can with mine.

2. Yes I can rotate it
but it still goes back to the view across the street. So it looks like my house is actually the park across the street.

3. Interesting.
mine defaults t a street view, labelled as such, and is from the POV of the house directly north of me.

Clearly, it's a bit confusing, and best understood if you already know the exact address in question and what the house or the view from the front of the house looks like exactly.

4. Can you picture a GOP nerd on election day
in a polling place in WyCo, armed with a clipboard of printouts from Google Street View? :scared:

5. It's really not going to take much
effort at all to show them that the street view isn't the view of the address. I wouldn't worry too hard about this.
