Democrat leader says veto of voter ID bill an option
The Associated Press
TOPEKA | The House's top Democrat says Gov. Kathleen Sebelius should consider vetoing the voter ID bill.
Minority Leader Dennis McKinney of Greensburg said Wednesday the bill is not needed because there isn't a problem with people voting illegally. The House and Senate passed the bill Tuesday.
Under the bill, Kansans would have to show a photo ID such as a driver's license every time they vote in person starting in 2010.
Supporters say the bill is constitutional and should be signed to prevent voter fraud.
