Vigil for Tomas Young
Tuesday, June 17
5:00 to 6:00 pm
63 and Ward Parkway
Kansas City, MO
While Kansas City adores our local American Idol winner (he is being called a "local hero" in our media) Tomas Young, our REAL local hero, lies in ICU at St Luke's. Tomas was paralyzed on his 5th day of duty in Iraq in 2004 (the same day Casey Sheehan was killed). Tomas is very ill and needs our community support.
Thousands turned out to watch the American Idol finals at the Power and Light District while a few hundred went to the Tivoli to see Phil Donahue's
wonderful documentary about Tomas, BODY OF WAR <
http://www.bodyofwar.com/>. Our American Idol winner is in People Magazine this week and Tomas is in intensive care.
Tomorrow, Tues, June 17, we will gather at 63rd and Ward Parkway at 5:00 to pay tribute to Tomas and to remind commuters we have a real local hero here in KC. Please join us. Bring a card for Tomas and we will deliver your cards to the hospital.
Also please call the Tivoli theater and ask them to schedule another screening for Body of War (816) 561-5222.
If you can't join us tomorrow, please forward this email and send Tomas a card. Let's shower our local hero with love and support!
