1. This guy is running in

an EXTREMELY conservative district. I live a couple of miles north of this one, and we liberals call that part of Johnson County the Heart of Darkness, with little irony intended.

But the Democratic Party in Kansas is gaining strength. We have a Democratic Governor, the wonderful Kathleen Sebelius, two (count 'em two) Democratic Representatives, out of four representatives altogether. There's a semi-decent chance we can elect a Democratic Senator for the first since I have no idea when.

2. Well he made his goal and then some

even if the number of people only gave the $8.34 that's still over $34K he just banked. That should buy some yard signs!

3. I met him at our district convention

He was running for a delegate slot. He is a very clever guy. I sure hope he wins. As Sheila said, that district really is red state hell.
