Rep. Nancy Boyda says she wants the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and other third-party organizations making independent expenditures to political campaigns to keep out of the 2nd Congressional District race in Kansas.
"I am asking the DCCC to get the heck out of my race," she said Friday.
Boyda's statement came after the DCCC announced last week it had reserved nearly $35 million to spend for television advertisements in potentially vulnerable districts across the United States before the November election. The 2nd Congressional District was one of 31 races the committee targeted, indicating it had set aside $1.2 million to spend in Kansas.
The DCCC, as a third party, isn't associated with any candidate's campaign and acts on its own.
Friday morning on "Jim Cates@ CJOnline," Christian Morgan, executive director of the Kansas Republican Party, said the DCCC had "dumped $1.2 million on behalf of Nancy Boyda" in the 2nd District race, claiming the action went against her "independent" image because she now would be getting the help she has said she "doesn't want or need" from Washington.
