Pictures of Dean's visit to Lawrence, Kansas yesterday
The pics are a little out of order, but they show how we decorated the outside of the house for the private reception and Dean's arrival. The last pictures were taken inside Libery Hall.

There are a couple of shots from the back of the room when our Douglas County Party Chair Kathy Greenlee was making introductions and then are some shots I took from the stage (where I got to see the back of Howard's head most of the time).

Both venues were packed and a great time was had by all!

5. It was, but then again it IS Lawrence

In the past two years I've shaken hands with Bill Clinton and Howard Dean and I didn't need to leave town. They came here.

James Carville spoke here. So has Al Franken. Jimmy Carter was here last summer and while I didn't get to meet him he did wave at me. Then there was the pass through by the K/E train (with over a thousand in attendance at 1:30 a.m.) and the subsequent return of John & Elizabeth to thousands. And it has reaped benefits, we've got a progressive super majority on the city commission, we swept almost every Democratic candidate into office at the local level & rousted out a few more Republicans on the state level in November and Kerry carried the county with almost 60% of the vote.

When Condi came through for dedication of the Dole Center on the KU campus she was greeted by a sign that read "Surrender Condi." Interestingly, Dole gave a thumb up to this sign as he drove by.

Next month Anthrax Annie is coming through and we've got a special reception planned for her.

Say what you will about Kansas but remember there's something special about this place when we keep getting so many to come visit.

What's this reception? I'm in for it :) I don't like her much.

9. Nice pictures!
And he was great. I was very impressed with the enthusiastic crowd. It was really thrilling to hear him speak. I only wished he had spoken longer.

Lawrence rocks and now Howard Dean knows that. You guys did an awesome job on this event.

Mabus, I am so sorry I was unable to stick around afterwards and meet you Lawrence DUers. Something came up and I had to leave right away. Keep me posted on the plans for the Coulter protest and hopefully we can get together for that. If you have flyers you want me to pass out here in KC, PM me.

11. I saw you!
I always thought you were "SheliaT" on DU. Glad you made it to our fair city! I was so happy to see you again. (I'll PM you.)

You were about 15 feet due west of me and just to the (my) right of one of the photos (the one with the empty mike stand) I posted. I actually tried to get a picture with you in it but I got the back of someone's head.

13. Hey Sheila did the news media interview you?
One of the local TV stations quoted an Overland Park Dem named Sheila something. Was that you?
