It seems that one of the trendy things for senators to do after they have been in Washington for a very long time is to sneak earmarks into massive appropriation bills that allow tax dollars to be spent on monuments, buildings, airports and post offices named after themselves. Pat Roberts Hall
Or at least we think that is what they do based upon Pat Roberts record. You see, Pat decided that after forty years in Washington, he deserved to spend your money in order to later have an entire building named after himself. A whole building!
Pat even flew up to Alaska to dedicate the airport Senator Ted Stevens had named after himself. He also voted for Ted’s infamous “Bridge to Nowhere.” That is how the good old boy system works in Washington – you vote for my projects, I’ll vote for your projects and no one stops to ask if the money is well spent.
So because Pat has been in Washington for so long, we want your help in reminding him that it was your money that put his name on that building. As he sits around a boardroom table in Washington making decisions about how to spend your money, the rest of us sit at the kitchen table to make our financial decisions and figure out how to make ends meet.
This is where you come in.
First, we need you to take a picture of yourself at your kitchen table and send it to us here at yourkitchentable@slatteryforsenate.com , include your name and we will post it on our website as a monument to you and all your hard work.
Our economy is struggling and we need to change the way Washington works. That's our money politicians are wasting and we need to make sure Pat Roberts and the rest of the friends he has made in Washington over the past forty years realize that the good old boy system of awarding earmarks is broken.
Jim has a plan to reform the earmarks system that includes eliminating "monuments to me." To view Jim's Congressional Earmark Reform Plan
