Kansas House 24: Slattery wins after recount
Johnson County election officials completed their recount in the Democratic primary for House District 24 and Mike Slattery has come out the winner over Andy Sandler.

Each picked up a vote in the recount. The final tally: Slattery, 650, Sandler 647. Sandler led by three votes after voting concluded Aug. 5. But when the provional ballots were counted a week later, Slattery emerged as the winner.

Slattery, 26, will now face Republican incumbent state Rep. Ronnie Metsker in the general election.

If you didn't know by now, Slattery will be on the ballot with his father, former Congressman Jim Slattery who is running against U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts.

Sandler enthusiastically backed Slattery in the race for House 24, which covers parts of northern Overland Park, Roeland Park and Mission.

"This is a very moderate district. We need to get this district back in moderate hands and it's not in moderate hands now," Sandler told Prime Buzz this morning.

Actually the vote difference was 2, not 3, but who expects accuracy in media anymore?
