If anyone has lived in Kansas much around the Wichita area, I am sure you remember JOyland. Well, over the weekend a group of heartless punks virtually destroyed the place and we would like to help the owners clean it up and maybe restore it.


I am trying to organize a day were the community and anyone who has ever enjoyed the little family park can give back to the owners who gave us so many great hours of fun.

I am, however, limited in contacts ect. The media would be involved if we could get the ball rolling.

A Wichita landmark has suffered another serious blow. Vandals struck the former Joyland Amusement Park in Southeast Wichita early Saturday.

Joyland owner Margaret Nelson tells KAKE News that someone called 911 overnight to report loud noises coming from inside the park. When police arrived, they found four people in the process of vandalizing various areas. All four were arrested.

Nelson says the office, ticket booths, and arcade have been destroyed.

"It makes us sick. We just cannot understand why someone would want to come out here and do this," says Nelson. "There's not anything of value out here anymore."

Nelson says anything that can be repaired will have to be paid for out her and her husband's own pocket

2. First find 3 or 4 people who also want to help spearhed this project

Put a committee together, and brainstorm ideas. Between all of you there are probably hundreds of email addresses so you can send out invites. Call high schools and find out if they require their students to do community service. You can also get workers from local probation officers.

You can get media contact info easily on newspaper, TV and radio station websites.
