1. Anybody but Jenkins
Fill me in. I know nothing about her. I just know I went to Jenkins town hall here in SEK and it was a mess, to say the least. Her only response to my diatribe about health care was "they're going to raise your taxes". Woo, I was really scared.

Not much of a bio there. She is a State Senator from Kansas in the middle of her second term.

Truthfully, I was not happy about the email she sent me

"Friday, I announced my candidacy for Congress in the 2nd Congressional district. I am challenging incumbent Lynn Jenkins.

I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know I am running and to ask for your support in the coming campaign. This is going to be an exciting race and there are many ways you can get involved, so please sign up on our website today!

In the last few months, people from all across the district have told me that they are tired of leaders tied to a do-or-die narrow partisan agenda that has failed our country for the last eight years. Saying NO is not the way we face challenges in Kansas, and it is not what we want in our leaders. People deserve common sense answers and real solutions.

Kansas families in the 2nd district need a representative who will energetically stand up for their most important concerns – their pocketbooks, their jobs, and their health care – not sit ! back and block progress in Washington.

As State Senator, I have worked across party lines to find solutions Kansans understand - $143 million in tax cuts to help businesses buy new equipment and create jobs, tax credits to help businesses afford health insurance for their employees, the expansion of community health clinics, and funding to reduce class sizes while increasing accountability in our schools.

We need the same kind of independent, common sense leadership in Congress.

That is why I am running.

Thank you,

Senator Laura Kelly

Although I signed up, which probably means I will get emails asking for money. But it sorta blows my mind that a Democratic candidate writes to Democrats and brags up her record of - tax cuts. And not just tax cuts, but tax cuts to business!!

It already sounds like she is running on a platform of Reaganomics. Hurrah for tax cuts!! Is she gonna be a "me too" Democrat? Jenkins will say "I am against tax increases (even for the very, very, very extremely rich) and Kelly will say "me too". Jenkins will say "I am for tax cuts (even for the very, very, very extremely rich) and Kelly will say "me too".
