Kelly drops Congressional bid in KS 2nd

Back to square one for the Kansas Democrats. Again.

Kansas state Sen. Laura Kelly, a Topeka Democrat, announced this morning that she's dropping her effort to unseat Republican U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins as Kansas' 2nd district representative in Congress.

Kelly said she wants to "keep her commitment to her constituents" and focus on the difficult work that lies ahead when state lawmakers reconvene in two weeks.

Kelly serves on the Senate Ways & Means Committee, a panel that will be busy as lawmakers look to erase another widening budget gap.

5. she's only got one term. It's not like she owns the seat.
but she is gonna be tough to beat. Especially without a candidate.
