Man jumps over guard rail after fender bender and falls to his death
A multiple vehicle crash resulted in a death of a man this morning who apparently jumped over a bridge viaduct along northbound Interstate 635 in Kansas City, Kan., police said this morning.

Police found the body of a 35-year-old Merriam man beneath the bridge. He apparently got out of his car after a wreck, saw other cars sliding toward him and jumped over the viaduct thinking there was pavement below, Kansas City, Kan., police said.

The initial crash occurred about 6 a.m. along I-635 near Interstate 70, and several other vehicles got tangled up in the crash. As many as five vehicles were involved in the crash, according to dispatchers.

The left and right lanes were closed in the area of Kansas Avenue as well as the left and right shoulders. All lanes reopened when the incident was cleared shortly after 8:30 a.m.
