Does anyone know this about Brownback?
A friend of mine just told me that Brownback is an ultra conservative Catholic - belongs to Opus Dei. And that the first thing he asks people is what religion they are.

That could explain his obsession with anti abortion stuff.

How did someone like that get voted in in KansasC (I'm in KCMO)

1. According to Wikipedia, he converted
from being a mainstream Protestant to evangelicalism and then in 2002 to Catholicism.

Much of Kansas is VERY conservative, very fundamentalist Christian. Just go to Olathe, Kansas, not far from you, and you might get an idea.

2. But this really isn't conservative Catholic country
Way more Baptists out there and a whole lot of them really don't like the Catholics.

4. Maybe the whole anti-abortion thing is the most important issue
and it trumps the fact that Brownback is an ultra conservative opus dei Catholic.

5. I think some in Kansas think they are back in Eisenhower times and any
republican is just perfect. They don't bother to check the facts. I've tried to explain this to people and all I get is a deer in the headlight look. People vote blindly with no brain attached and fall for political ads/propaganda. In short, they are brainwashed. Some can't even understand the funding by the Koch brothers of RW groups. Many people are just dense and seem to love it that way, wasted minds. And others will say, "well, if that's what YOU choose to believe."
