The Woodlands racetrack will host a tea party presidential convention in Kansas City, Kansas, at the end of September, KMBC's Micheal Mahoney reported. The official announcement is expected to come Tuesday during a press conference at the Woodlands.
The convention is slated for September 28 through October 2, according to Mahoney. The Rev. William Temple, leader of the Tea Party Founding Fathers, told Mahoney that they'll conduct a straw poll to determine their nominee.
Temple released a statement saying the convention, which he's calling a "Freedom Jamboree," will be held in a central location rather than different cities so they can nail down their positions for the 2012 election and, more specifically, for the Iowa caucuses. Mahoney's report says the tea party "will add national security and family issues to their economic platform for 2012."
