Senate Bill 125 Action Alert
Oppose additional barriers to women's health services
OPPOSE SB 125 An Act requiring women to make 2 visits to a clinic to
obtain an abortion.
State Senate Judiciary Committee May Vote on Bill Creating Additional
Barriers to Women's Healthcare
On Thursday, February 16, 8:00 am
The Senate Judiciary Committee may vote on Senate Bill 125, which
would require women, 24 hours prior to an abortion, to receive state
mandated information in-person from a physician, physician assistant,
licensed nurse, or social worker.
This would require a woman to make 2 visits to the clinic, regardless
of where she lives or how far she has to travel. Abortion services
are available only in Louisville and Lexington and this added
requirement on top of an already mandated waiting period and state
script will prevent some women from obtaining abortion services at
all, especially those who live far from the two major cities, those in
abusive relationships, and those without financial resources.
