Episode description: Author, screenwriter, and staff writer for The New Yorker magazine, Lawrence Wright discusses his latest book The Looming Tower : Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11. The book, based on five years of research, chronicles the events leading up to 9/11 including the people and ideas, the terrorist plans, and the Western intelligence failures that culminated in the assault on America. A 2006 KET production taped at the Kentucky Center in Louisville.

He's discussing a lot about Sayid Qutb, the subject of the first part of The Power of Nightmares who was the inspiration for Ayman al-Zawahiri (and Qutb was arrested and tortured in an Egyptian prison by people trained by the CIA).
