U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers has helped raise at least $113,000 for the legal defense of an embattled Texas congressman who will help decide whether Rogers gets a powerful House chairmanship this winter.
In August, Rogers hosted a Lexington fund-raising luncheon for House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, a Republican from Sugar Land, Texas.
Several dozen Kentucky builders, road pavers and businessmen, some of whom receive state and federal contracts, paid up to $5,000 to DeLay's defense fund, according to congressional records.

____________, a beer distributor in Bowling Green, attended the luncheon and gave $5,000. Yesterday, __________ said he wasn't sure why DeLay is under investigation. But whatever DeLay may be accused of, _________ said, he's certain DeLay didn't do it.
"This was all brought about by people who are trying to unseat him, who don't like him politically," _________ said. "I'm convinced of his innocence."

This guy gives beer distributors a bad name. I guess you don't need any common sense to do that.
Thanks to Josh Marshall for the heads up here... he often makes my day.
