ADVISORY for Friday 12:00 p.m. EST
Kentucky United to Protect Social Security
Hosts Town Hall Meeting;
Northup’s Chair Empty
In response to Representative Anne Northup’s boast that she loves to debate and to talk about the issue of Social Security, Kentucky United to Protect Social Security today challenges her to put her money where her mouth is.
At a town hall meeting scheduled for noontime Friday, April 1, Kentucky United to Protect Social Security (Kentucky United) will hold a discussion on Social Security privatization at Martin Luther King, Jr Park, across the street from Rep. Northup’s district office in downtown Louisville. A panel of concerned Kentuckians will discuss the importance of Social Security to their lives, and explain why they are opposed to Anne Northup’s plan to dismantle Social Security.
Last week, Northup told Congressional Quarterly, a Washington, DC publication: “I love the issue, and I like the debate, and I like to talk about it. I bring it up in every single speech I give. Every meeting, just about.” (Congressional Quarterly, “GOP Chooses Northup For Lead Role in Promoting Social Security Overhaul,” March 25, 2005).
