FRANKFORT, Ky. -- After state investigators were turned away from Transportation Cabinet offices in May for lack of a search warrant, Cheryl Casey said she and her boss, Dan Druen, began removing records.
Three days later, the agents returned -- but found many empty files, said Casey, who was executive secretary for Druen, a transportation commissioner.
Casey said in an interview with The Courier-Journal that Druen did not want the attorney general's office to see how civil service workers were being chosen on the basis of politics, not qualifications.
"He was concerned about some of the things in our files being pretty damning, and I don't believe all the things in our files made it to the attorney general's office," Casey said in the interview.
