Fletcher says protesters were from out of state
By Robert Schoenberger
rschoenberger@courier-journal.com
The Courier-Journal

Gov. Ernie Fletcher does not believe that the nearly 2,000 people who crowded the Capitol Rotunda Tuesday to oppose his labor legislation are from Kentucky.

"You've got people that are shipped in from out of state that are opposed to it," Fletcher said of protesters at the union rally against right-to-work and prevailing-wage bills he supports.

The governor made the remarks late Tuesday at a press conference following his budget address. He later added, "You can ship people in for anything. Those are not our constituents."

>snip

Bill Londrigan, Kentucky AFL-CIO president, said he collected forms from 900 Kentucky union members at the rally, all with a name and address. He estimated 1,800 people attended, all from Kentucky. "It really shows how out of touch this governor is that he can't even recognize the citizens of the commonwealth," he said.

What a POS Fletcher is. Seriously. He's a complete and utter embarrassment to the human race.

2. Ugh
Among the stupid things Fletch has said recently, my favorite has to be his recent pandering to the right-wing (but at the same time not wanting to upset his more progressive consituents) by saying that it should be left up to individual schools whether or not to teach ID. Can we pull out his feeding tube?

3. Welcome to DU!
Ernie is such a turd. Last I checked, he was the third least popular governor in America.

4. Thanks for the welcome
Somehow that doesn't come as a big shock to me. I think he's pretty much tanked his future in politics - even other right-wingers are distancing themselves from him. I'd have to say my all time favorite Fletcherism is when he pardoned everyone who was indicted in the hiring inquiry. I thought someone had to be convicted before they could be pardoned. And plus it just begs the question: can Fletcher pardon himself? Can Fletcher get loaded one night and run someone down in his car, then pardon himself the next day? I mean I know he said that he wouldn't pardon himself if he was indicted, so I guess by extension that means he *can* pardon himself.

5. It wasn't just a pardon, it was blanket amnesty for past and future
misdeeds. Even Mitch McConnell has backed away from Ernie.

I wonder if Chandler will challenge him come the next election?

I also have a good relationship with the people from Kentuckians For The Commonwealth. They are good people.
