3. My hubby is from New Orleans.

He grew up in the city (down near Audobon Park Zoo and its famous Monkey Hill) before moving to Slidell in the mid 60's. I want to go down this year. His big sis makes the best homemade red beans and rice & gumbo & we eat soft shell crabs & drink beer and go to the city for beignets. Mmmmm!

Glad you're returning and I know you'll have a great time. I was in Muses Wednesday and it just about killed me. I can barely walk and I'm scheduled to parade in the Krewe of Oak tonight (Carrolton bar hop parade).

My Mardi Gras Goals this year:
#1 to survive
#2 not to fall out of a moving vehicle (like last year)
#3 to not burn out before Fat Tuesday

#3 is always the hardest part. But hopefully I can crawl out of bed for Kosmic Debris.

8. Muses

Hey, I went to Muses, that was my first parade in 20 years too, and it was great! You gals really know how to put on a parade! Which group were you in? I was at the corner of St. Charles and Marengo, having a friend with a refrigerator and bathroom only 2 blocks away, is the only way to go to a parade.
And to Marcus, I just moved back after a similar time away, and while talking with some people here, it came out that being "eccentric" is the birthright of all New Orleanians, whether born here, or transplanted. Enjoy!

9. Welcome back to the most interesting city in the world!

I was with one of the dancing troupes. We wore all white with an "oyster" theme. If you saw us, i'm sure you'd remember us. Can you recall our group?

Sure, who could forget a Bearded Oyster? A couple of my friends got your throws, and I should say they were the best in the whole parade.
Even better than the glass beads and shoes some of the floats were throwing. I am having fun too, I'm going to Hermes, d'Etat tonight.

Krewe of Oak. The one and a half mile route beginning at the Maple Leaf and bar hopping through Carrolton. The parade should begin sometime around 8 (probably closer to 8:30) and loop back to the Maple Leaf around 11 where the Krewe of Oak Ball featuring Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes will be playing late. We hit Carrolton Station and Snake n Jakes. The oysters will be there.

I'm so excited that we stood out enough to be remembered. GREAT!

Sure, I remember the Pink Pussycats and the Disgruntled Housewives too (I live sarcasm). But everyone that saw your large (ceramic?) oyster beads wanted to take a look. I might go down that way, that was a hangout of mine, once upon a time :party:.

At some point I inherited one of the Palm Fronds, and was dancing like a fool down to the 70s tunes from the shopping cart down by Col. Sanders (and others).

What a great Mardi Gras. But my body is reminding me that I am now 47 and not 27.

I don't think I ever properly recovered from getting home at 5:30 from MoMs, getting up at 10:30 and joining my kids at the parades uptown by 1:00.

Tuesday was another long day. We were in the crowd at the R Bar who were by passed by St. Anne's, and so paraded our own selves up Royal just in time to catch Zulu (which please me as I always made it down for Zulu in the past).
