I just want to take a minute to let you know that we are praying for you up here in New Hampshire.
This hits me more directly than my neighbors. I lived in New Orleans from 1993-1996 (Eliza Street on Algiers Point). My in-laws still live in New Orleans, and my wife has scores of relatives in the Orleans/Jefferson area. Her parents and grandparents are safe and staying with family members in Arkansas, and their house is probably in manageable shape, but other members of the family have probably lost everything.
New Orleans will always be part of who we are. We were married at Holy Name of Mary; as good Dems, we volunteered for Mary Landrieu and Donald Mintz; we sweated out walks in Audobon Park and cheered ourselves silly at Zephyrs games.
Don't listen to Dennis Hastert. he's a horses ass who doesn't appreciate New Orleans and who doesn't understand the pride in and love for the city that is in the heart of every New Orleanian. New Orleans will be back, and we will do whatever we can to hasten the day when we can all hang out in the Quarter or at Rue de la Course once more.
