I'm about to just unload here with my situation. I'm very ignorant, a bit nervous, and ready to move on this before it's too late.
My plan all along has been to move back to Louisiana shortly after graduating from radiography school. Well, now I have, and it's time to begin shopping for a few acres north of Lake Pontchartrain. The problem? I don't know where to begin.
My sense of urgency comes from this: I sense that the price of land in this area is going to quickly rise over the next few years (developments, sprawl, migration from New Orleans post-Katrina, etc), pricing me out of potential ownership. So I wanna lay my mitts on ~10 rural acres while land is still relatively cheap, even if the land just sits there for a year or two after I buy it.
Are there any good realtor/real estate websites online that sell land in this region? Or should I make the drive from Austin and go browsing myself? How much is rural land going for nowadays? $2000/acre? $3000/acre? More?
Thanks for any help! :hi:
