Some upset with display

Local residents who have a truck plastered with photos of an aborted fetus parked at their house on College Road on Wednesday morning declined to comment on why they chose to park the truck in their driveway. The residents referred questions to Operation Rescue, an anti-abortion organization from Wichita, Kan., that owns the truck.
The U-Haul-sized truck that has "Stop Abortion Now!" across the sides is one of six nationwide, aimed at "educating" the public, said Brennan Sullenger with Operation Rescue.
"People usually call us and want to use the truck," Sullenger said.
Stephen Handwerk, a member of the Lafayette Parish Democratic Executive Committee, said the truck is not a healthy way to educate and does not address the real crisis at hand, which is unwanted pregnancy.

When asked if the use of the photos of aborted fetuses was inappropriate to be seen by children who would inevitably see the truck parked between Johnson and Congress streets on College Road the first day of school, Sullenger said there is a greater question to be asked. "I think everyone wants to jump to the issue of kids seeing it," she said. "People need to see what's going on. If this is legal and this is right, then why is it so horrible to look at?"
Handwerk said if such logic was sound then "why don't we have televised death sentences?"
