La. Radio Host Charged in Wife's Death
La. Radio Host Charged in Wife's Death
By MARY FOSTER , 09.07.2006, 07:13 PM

A popular radio talk-show host was charged Thursday with killing his estranged wife in an attack once thought to be a robbery gone bad, the sheriff said.

Vince Marinello, 69, surrendered to authorities and was booked into jail on second-degree murder charges, said Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee.

Donald Foret, Marinello's lawyer, had no comment as he escorted the broadcaster into jail.

Mary Elizabeth Marinello, a 45-year-old respiratory therapist, died Sept. 1, a day after she was shot twice in the face as she stood in a parking lot. The attack was first described as a botched robbery, but Lee said Wednesday night that it is was being treated as a "hit" based on surveillance tapes.
(snip)

Marinello disguised himself as a scruffy man and rode a bicycle to the parking lot of a building where he knew his wife had an appointment, Lee said. After shooting his wife, Lee said he rode to an area behind an elementary school.

5. did you read the article?
"The sheriff has said the Marinellos were in the middle of a contentious divorce and that Mary Marinello had been arrested last month on charges of domestic abuse battery."

So, she was battering him. Does that mean the murder was justified? I mean, every time the gender roles are reversed, there are sure a lot of morons who say "yes".

there is more to this story than this short article

he was a bigamist, married to another woman, she finds out, wants to leave, he verbally and also sends abusing letters to her, one day he grabbed her and yes she struggled and scratched him to get away from him, six weeks later he gets the idea to have HER charged for this, now that it can't be proved who started the shit, the cops have no choice these days but to arrest when an accusation was made but there is NO doubt who the abuser is here

he shot her in the face as she was leaving her therapist's office

i hope he fries

he's been around for a long time, apparently the rich shit head figured his popularity would get him off -- and it will

why is he being charged for second degree murder when they have evidence, including his "to do" list and testimony from the gun store and a witness at the disguise shop that this was cold-blooded premeditation?

a poor man who plotted such a crime would be charged with the maximum in my humble opinion

sheriff lee would still be saying that an unknown robber did this if the victim's family had not released some of the hateful letters this man sent and also revealed to media the truth about his unbelievable treatment of her

at first sheriff lee was even claiming she was robbed, tho nothing was taken, he claimed they couldn't see the person on the security tape, whoa-ho, the family puts some of the facts out there about this guy's behavior and suddenly they can see his photo just fine on the security tape

plus the gun shop owner and other witnesses also came forward, it sounds like this poor woman was very well liked, despite being in a horrible and crazy-making situation

they never prosecuted the creep for the bigamy thing either, after all he's mr. radio personality, she's just a woman

13. And where will the outcry be about "revolving door justice" when he walks?
he's been around for a long time, apparently the rich shit head figured his popularity would get him off -- and it will

Mary Marinello is just as dead as any of the victims in Algiers or Central City -- and, assuming he's guilty, Vince Marinello is just as much of a murderer as the less-famous perps in the city proper, and with an uglier rug to boot! :P

6. Uh oh!
I remember him as a sports reporter on WVUE (ABC affiliate) and WDSU (NBC affiliate) when I used to live in New Orleans. I left in 1994).
I googled, and here's a much more in depth article, but evidently not as current as Judi Lynn's. It's from September 1.The whole thing sounds really weird. Here's the link:
