6 Arrested Following Russian Roulette Death

PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (AP) — Six people were booked on drug and weapons charges after a 16-year-old apparently shot and killed himself during a game of Russian roulette, authorities said.

Jacob White, of Prairieville, and the older friends were playing the game and smoking marijuana when White apparently shot himself Wednesday at White's home, said Ascension Parish sheriff's Lt. Paul Robert.

While White and his friends smoked the drug, they passed two handguns around. Robert said White took one of the two guns, and loaded it with at least one live round and put the weapon to his head. It discharged after he pulled the trigger several times, Robert said.

The other six left; one youth's parents reported the shooting, Robert said. Investigators took two guns and drug paraphernalia from the house, he said.

Yes. Given the guns's serial number, the manufacturer and law enforcement people can trace it to the first person who bought it (unless that occurred before 1968).

If that person is not the current owner, he or she should be able to say who owned it next, and so on. Unless you run into a dead person in the chain of custody, or it was stolen unbeknownst to the owner.

When I was in high school in the late 80s, it was an annual event that some drunk teenager with his drunk friends would end up blowing his head off. Literally, at least one died or was permanently injured every year while I was in school. And NO ONE ever saw charges. Not the parents, or the owners of the guns, or the other kids who were there.

14. I had a classmate in junior high who never made it to high school because of russian roulette.

He was in his Dad's apartment showing off a handgun to his friends during the summer break, spun the barrel and killed himself on the first try. "Watch this." Last words. He was a really mean bastard, but I'm sure he would have outgrown it if he'd lived. We only lived about 1 block apart.

Kids do crazy stuff. Tragic stuff. Those kids are all going to be intensely traumatized. How sad!

Great movie, but total falsification of a Vietnamese penchant for bloodthirsty game; a part of the Rambo era's goal of demonizing the Vietnamese as subhuman. It is tragic that this family has to go through this tragedy, but let's face it, the kid was as dumb as a rock and frankly was probably a hazard to everybody else. Can you imagine this kid driving???
