Emergency Call to action LA DUers! Louisiana wants and needs ACT!

"This is the contact person's e-mail as they reconsider whether or not to make Louisiana a target state. Could you send out a special emergency action to get everybody we know to e-mail this group requesting their help. I have warned them that I would start an e-mail campaign and they have not replied. It is time to show them our committment and energy. ACT is a well funded 527 that does lots of canvassing and voter registration in order to derail the republican agend. The closest ACT event is in Pensacola, Fla., 220 miles away from New Orleans. Have e-mails sent to [e-mail] saying "Louisiana wants ACT". Another e-mail to cc is [e-mail]."

1. I volunteer for ACT in NC.

They are not spending $$$'s right now in NC, but we have a strong volunteer network and many events in this state. The NC volunteer coordinator got me started organizing grocery store registration events even though I have no previous political organizing experience. All the relevant forms are on the website in PDF form for handy downloading.

Anyone can post events on ACT. I post stuff for local community organizers who are not computer savvy to help them get volunteers, plus my grocery store registration events. Good luck!

the NAACP, ACORN and Democracy South could probably get you started registering voters, too. Those groups have a strong presence in my city, paid staff, etc.

Sorry to pester you, I am really gung-ho about this stuff right now.

4. we're pretty organized

we've got tons of people blanketing the New Orleans area with voter registration innitiatives. I've been working with several local groups as well as Rock the Vote.Hopefully ACT can help LA in some other areas.
