Mary Landrieu ABSTAINED on the Patrio Act...
Does anybody know her explanation for this? I'm writing a paper on the act and I'm quite curious.

2. Are you sure she abstained ... or was she absent?
I'd bet the latter.

3. her office was contaminated with anthrax
I don't know for sure but you might want to check out the suggestion of another poster who pointed out that she might have been absent. And for good reason.

4. I really like Landrieu more and more lately, but
we have to keep up the pressure on her to stay true to the Dem ideals. Do you know the horrible pressure she will face when she is up for re-election??? The repukes will be more determined than ever to win her seat, and will paint her as one of the worst libruls in history (even tho we know her as pretty conservative.) In trying to keep her seat, I expect she will begin to sound more conservative than ever, and that's a shame. I suspect, in her heart, she is pretty progressive, but just can't exhibit her sentiments, out of political expediency. What a shame.

5. If they couldn't unseat her in '02, they won't in '08...
2002 was the worst year for dem incumbents, Bush had 77% approval ratings and if you were even remotely against the GOP agenda, they could paint you as unpatriotic.
