LOL

If its what I am thinking of I would have had to delete my post too. But I changed my mind and did not post anything at all. However, it is regretful that there will be no point taken.

30. Kennebunk High '74 here
Born in Biddeford, raised in Kennebunk, moved away to get married and work for ATT, still have family all over the state. Got my political jumpstart as a kid at a picnic at Kennebunk Pond for Ed Muskie, where I remember him he actually standing on a tree stump to make a speech. Later on I went to dinner with Ken Curtis at the Blaine House, and a few years later I helped out at the Jimmy Carter office in Saco. My political roots are Pine Tree!
We keep a summer place in OOB, I write the some of the Maine part of the ATC's Thru-hiker's Companion, and hope to retire back home someday.

31. Fond memory of Muskie
My mom and I were driving around Kennebunk one day when we went down a dead end road. At the end of it was a modest house and some guy was working on his car, checking the oil. Turns out it was Senator Muskie. I remember some exchange between him and my mom and then her telling me that he was a US senator. I can still see the image in my mind all of these years later.

You just brought up another memory. I worked for the mcgovern campaign in 1972 when I was in HS. The the office was across the street from the restaurant in Biddeford that sits at the fork, where one side is Main Street and the other is Alfred. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of that restaurant. Boy was that ever fun. I grew up in OOB and Kennebunk was our arch rivals. "Shut the trunk on Kennebunk" I believe was our homecoming cheer one year.

32. 1964 memories of Muskie
I was a Young Democrat working to perpetuate JFK's legacy through Lyndon Johnson (shows how naive I was in those days) and Ed Muskie was, I think, running for reelection to the Senate that year. I was one of three YD's chosen to ride in the car with him in a campaign parade through town. Meeting him was cool, but even cooler was riding down Main Street and seeing a couple of girls in my class and watching the look on their faces when I leaned past Ed and waved to them.
