AUGUSTA — The Maine Democratic Party is in the midst of some major changes, with a search now under way for a new chairman.
Ben Dudley, chairman since April 2006, announced Friday that he is leaving his post next week.
Dudley would not say where his next job will be, saying he preferred to have his new employer make an announcement. He said he will "be active in policy work," and a press release announcing his departure described it as a private-sector job.
Along with the open position, the Democrats got a new executive director in May when Arden Manning of Portland was promoted from his position as party spokesman. Manning replaced Maggie Allen, who left to go back to teaching, Manning said.
