Campers arriving for Kennebunk march
KENNEBUNKPORT - Campers began arriving today at Camp Alex in Kennebunkport and Camp Casey in Arundel, two sites set up for participants in this weekend’s anti-war protest. The camps are named after two men who died in Iraq.

Organizers are readying the camps, putting up shelter tents and tables for food. The only sign of preparation at the rally site, in a field next to Consolidated School, is the arrival of portable toilets.

Campers will arrive throughout the day today. Organizers expect 75 to 150 campers at Camp Alex and up to 300 at Camp Casey. The march is expected to draw up to 6,000 participants.

3. Newspaper says 4,000 marched. What do you think?
Crowd numbers are often underreported. Wish I could've been there but I sprained my knee. Just curious what the organizers thought about the turnout!

5. The protest in Kennebunkport, Maine was terrific!
Not sure how many people participated, but there were thousands!!! Dennis Kucinich was awesome and he makes so much sense! I like him more and more I hear him speak. Cindy Sheehan was also there and spoke with so much passion. I was able to shake her hand and thank her for all she has done/is doing to encourage Americans to protest against the bush/cheney administratin. It just felt so good to be surrounded by like minded people who have a clue to what is happening to our country instead of those who only get their info from Fox, Limpballs, and Insanity.

I'm sure the bushes, in their Walker's Point mansion, weren't too happy that so many of the unwashed masses came a-calling. The day was beautiful and kudos to the organizers of the protest. A job well done!!

I was so happy to meet two other DUers. So nice meeting UnHappyCamper and Livvy. BTW, Livvy had a wonderful sign with all the DUer's names who were with us in spirit. I wish I had my camera with me when I met her so I could have taken a picture of her with the sign.

I have lots of pictures but not a clue how to post them. Can I e-mail them to anyone for posting????

Didn't see anything about the protest on national TV. Guess this isn't as important as Britany, Paris, Vick, or Lohan.

6. Thanks for the report!
Instead of marching, I had to spend the weekend on the couch with my leg propped up. Phooey.

7. sorry to hear you was laid up

take a look at the video posted by sapphire blue, will give you an idea how well maine was represented. I hope the opposition realizes how poorly their showing was.
I believe the voter turn out in 2008 will show the republican party just how discussed the people are with this administration.
we all need to stick together and do our part by electing "tom allen" to the senate!
as MAINE goes so goes the nation!
