headed north

nearly that time of year to check out my ole stomping grounds. if your planning a trip up north of bangor it is time to put the snowtreads on. any time now we could get snow or freezing rain. back on those paper company roads I like to be prepared.
my wife and I usually travel up to the county one weekend, and another down east.
IT use to cost me more for food than fuel but I think this year will be different.
helen's will defenitly be on the list.
I really miss "AL'S DINNER" IN PRESQULE but the gov.'s has good food.
we'll hit the "irvings" at the end of the airline, love their chicken fried stk. and we'll pick up a pizza at carmen's in calais.
I always go to the kellyland road to visit dads favorite spot, the fork of anderson trail and the indian path.
from the time I was 12-19 every thanksgiving morning he got his deer their.I got mine at anderson spring.
I'll take rte 11 out of east miltynockett and swing right onto the Ip road.took a few out of their when I worked on I-95.
SURE MISS MRS GRASSES HOME MADE DOUGHNUTS ON THE COR OF RTE 11. BOY them were the good ole days.
time to start getting things ready, you all make sure you carry a shovel!

1. Heading north
Always pays to be prepared. I got stranded once about 35 years ago on a remote logging road west of Baxter, was preparing to settle down for the night when a local guy came along in a pick-up truck packed with a full toolkit. Ever since then, I've always carried a very complete emergency kit on trips up north.

Isn't there an Al's Diner in Mars Hill, on the right as you drive north through the middle of town? Served pretty good food last time I was there, back last spring. Had an amazingly long menu as I recall.

Where is Carmen's in Calais? I'm always looking for decent pizza on road trips.
