PORTLAND, Maine — Maine´s first IMAX movie theater will open next fall at the Cinemagic theater complex in Saco.
Zyacorp Entertainment says the theater on U.S. 1 will be renovated to include the giant-screen system and add two new auditoriums, bringing the total number of screens to 15.

In addition to two new screens, the complex will get new reclining leather seats. The lobby and exterior also will be remodeled and parking will be increased, Collins said.
In August, Zyacorp officials announced they planned to open an IMAX theater in the state. IMAX screens can be as big as eight stories high and 120 feet wide. The system at the Saco theater will be Digital IMAX.
Traditionally, IMAX has been known for screening documentaries and educational films, but Hollywood is now producing more films for IMAX and IMAX 3D, such as Robert Zemeckis' "Beowolf."
