A friend has a daughter who works at WCSH in Portland. When Palin came to Bangor, the campaign called Channel 6 to inquire if the station was sending a reporter to cover the event. They confirmed that a reporter would be attending. The campaign asked who the reporter would be. The person at WCSH wasn't sure; it would be assigned based on who was available etc. The campaign asked, "Are you sending Rob Caldwell?" The person in Portland repeated that they were not sure. The campaign representative kept asking if it would be Caldwell. Finally the person at WCSH asked why they were so insistent and the campaign replied, "We don't want Rob Caldwell. He has an agenda!"
His agenda, as displayed in two interviews with John McCain, is to get the senator to actually answer questions. The McCain/Palin campaign did not want to risk Hockey Mom being trapped with such a ruthless reporter.
One wonders what other local reporters around the country have earned this distinction.
