Fellow Democrat
It's 4:00 a.m. on Friday morning. After we include the end of Daylight Savings time this weekend, there are 100 hours until the polls open across Maine. Maine will be the first place in the nation to see the sun rise on Election Day-the day that we as Americans can finally dig ourselves out of the rut we've been in over the last eight years. We can lead the vote for change.
To get all of our supporters to the polls will take two things:
WORK and
DOLLARS. WORK to knock on doors and make phone calls to potential voters who haven't yet cast their ballots. And DOLLARS to purchase last-minute supplies, gas, and food for our volunteers and organizers. Please sign up now for a donation of your time or your dollars-whatever you can do to help in these final days.
We still need more volunteers! So sign up for a volunteer shift this weekend, Monday, or Election Day-and recruit your friends and neighbors-to help Get Out the Vote for Change this Tuesday, November 4th. SIGN UP HERE TO HELP OUT.
http://www.mainedems.org/GOTV Or, if you can't donate your time, donate what you can to help support our volunteers-with a meal, flashlight to canvass after dark, or a poncho to keep dry in the event of rain. Give $25, $50, $100, or $250 to help make a difference on November 4th.
There's no time for doubt-only for a final adrenaline push to get us through Tuesday with victories up and down the Democratic ticket. The naysayers will be SHOCKED about what we will accomplish here in Maine on Tuesday. Don't just watch and wait, take action today with a donation of your time, or a few dollars.
Please know how much I appreciate all of your support-throughout this campaign and through these final days. Together, I believe we can win.
Peter Chandler
Campaign Director, Victory 2008
I received this email from Peter Chandler this morning. GOTV is going to be vital in bringing home this election. And I'm going to make a more personal appeal than I had intended because this is too important.
Some of you know who I am but to most I'm an anonymous guy on this message board. I have worked on campaigns, served on committees and attended conventions here in Maine and around the country. But I have had to sit out this election because last month I suffered a stroke and a blood vessel exploded near the base of my brain. This was a blessing in that it did no serious damage and that it revealed a huge (though benign) tumor which had been undiscovered and was as little as a few months from ending my life. I am now awaiting surgery at Mass General in Boston to remove the tumor.
Those of you who know me or have read my posts over the past few years will understand how difficult it is for me to be unable to participate in this campaign. So I am asking those of you who haven't participated but care about this election, who share my beliefs that we need leadership that will unite us rather than divide, will inspire us with hope rather then fear and will work for the betterment of all Americans not just their phony "pro-America" friends to sign up and help with the efforts this weekend. It's important. And it's easier than you may think.
Thank you.
