1. Funny thing about this entire tax discussion...

is the focus on taxing out-of-staters through our sales tax. The legislature just http://www.bangordailynews.com/detail/141321.html">recently voted to give a huge (60%) break on sales tax to out-of-staters who want to buy a boat here!

I'm all in favor of lowering income tax and raising sales tax to curb gluttonous consumption (why would you want to discourage income?), but these exclusions are really shady. Is it true that some candy bars are exempt while others aren't? I heard that rumor, but couldn't find any details online.

3. I have to vote yes on 1. The new law would be very hard on my husband, who is a self-employed

computer repairman. (Not that I was a fan of the new tax system law before he explained to me how it would impact him.)
