Oppps...this was meant as a reply to another post and ended up here. (don't know how to move it but maybe you can get the gist of what I'm saying about attempts to pick off State Senate seats): There are several State Senate seats that GOP (with outside money) is trying to pick off in order to control the State Senate. Barry Hobbins has all these ads by Cushing (GOP) trying to pick him off in the Saco area. There is the one you mentioned and about two others.

I don't live in that area but my daughter does. Again, like other races, Barry has only a few signs up. I just mentioned Barry in passing to her and she rolled her eyes------I don't know if that was a "he will get re-elected, don't worry" or a "nobody wants him re-elected" eye roll. All I know is that people need to be aware that repubs are really trying like I've never seen before to get the Senate in their hands. A Dem legislature can handle LePage but not one that goes Repub!

If we are going to end up w/a Governor LePage (I'm cringing as I type this)... a Dem State Legislature is going to be our only hope. I think the House will probably lose a few seats but should be able to hang on. The Senate however, is looking very dicey.
Speaking of the State Legislature, I was shocked to see R funded attack ads on tv aimed at State Legislators. I've seen 3 so far. One against Senator Simpson of Auburn and 2 targeting State Reps Crockett and (??? can't remember the other woman). I've never seen them televise attack ads against state-level legislators before! The amount of money the R's have been spending is obscene. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the Supreme Court decision regarding corporate $ in campaigns?
