I GENERALLY BROWSE THE DISCUSS EVERY DAY. THIS WAS POSTED EARLIER AN I THOUGHT IT WORTH PASSING ON: Just because you win an election does not mean you can do whatever you have the votes to do. There are established laws and traditions that must not be trampled upon.
This is what the Republican Party is doing in Wisconsin and several other states, as well as in the Federal government in Washington.
They might argue that there was no "consent of the governed" when the Democrats passed the "Obamacare" bill? But it was different. The Tea Party was organized by outside interests that was not in the best interests of the people protesting. Their "death panels" and support for the insurance companies was not created from the grasssroots, as are these protests in Madison and elsewhere, that are protecting the actual interests of the working and middle-class.
They have usurped the authority given them in the last election. In truly Machivellian style, they dont really give a damn what the majority of the people want or think. They are hellbent on destruction of unions, public and private.
In Michigan, they are saying that the Governor has the power to dissolve local governments. He can get rid of Mayors and City Councils that were voted in by the people. This is insanity.
The people do not consent to this type of governing. Without the consent of the governed, there is no legitimacy. Without legitimacy, nothing is legal. There should be a special election, just like in California when Gray Davis was kicked out and Swartzenegger was installed. This cannot stand. The people still rule in a democracy, no matter how many elections you may steal, by deception or otherwise. THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF TRUTH IN THIS MESSAGE! WE CERTAINLY ARE EXPERIENCING THIS IN OUR STATE!
